Pris Buttler resides in Gainesville, Ga. She has a professional art background as a graphic designer and folk artist. She started rug hooking in 1996. Since then, she has been featured numerous times in A Celebration of Hand-Hooked Rugs, as well as ATHA publications and at Sauder Village. She is the authority on Lettering and Drawing & Design, having written two original manuals on those topics. Pris has also written two popular dye books.

A popular teacher, Pris is known for helping her students develop talents they didn’t know they possessed. Pris publishes her own catalog of patterns, but her class is open. Students can learn about the design process, drawing original designs and transferring to foundation, color planning and lettering. Or, they can work on one of her many designs from her catalog.
Pris is McGown certified and teaches at camps and workshops around the United States. She will be teaching again at the ATHA Biennial this fall in Pennsylvania.
Pris has a new project. She is currently designing rugs within the context of Gustav Klimt.
