When Mujeres en Cambio was conceived over 15 years ago, the concept was two fold: one, find a way for women to make money and two, provide scholarships for girls to continue their education. The Rug Hook Project was created as the way for them to make money. The group, Las Rancheritas, consists of 19 people. Each person designs and makes their individual rug. In addition to sales in the USA they are also sold at the Instituto Allende Craft fairs. Trips to their village of Agustin Gonzales 14 miles for SMA can also be arranged.
